    No.

Ummm... the answer's still no, whatever way I look at it.

We do have dodecagonal 50c coins. The obverse looks ok. I didn't recognise the reverse, but 50c coins are less commonly used in circulating currency than 20s (because they're awkward to handle), and they're more commonly used for commemorative editions (because there's an odd "specialness" about them), so I wouldn't rule out the possibility that I just hadn't seen one. So I checked out the RA Mint website to see if it's on their list of minted coins. I can't see a verbal description that matches the picture, and there's no listing for 2004 special edition mintings anyway. I don't know if that's definitive - I've never had cause to investigate the normal workings of the Mint before. So that all leaves me a bit puzzled.

And I can't say I've run across a coin of any description that acts so directly as personal introduction to the Prince of Darkness, though I've heard it argued that coinage in general has that property.

    How are you, anyway?

I've spent the last three weeks working punishing hours, and I'm perhaps a little giddy with the release of pressure that comes from returning to a more sane schedule. (Does it show?)

      Ha!
I guess I'm going to have to start examining coins for randomly appearing images of the beasts of Hades, because I really don't want to meet ol' Lucifer.

I'm great, though kind of inclined to start picking odd-looking trinkets off my shelves, creating some strange mythology about them and selling them on ebay.

Glad to hear your work schedule is easing up - well-earned giddyness is always a pleasure. I'm just sinking back into some work myself, but happily I'll be doing less than 15 hours a week so I can keep mommydom as job #1.

Sounds like a pastime at which you'd excel - DO tell me if it becomes a major money-spinner!
